Easy Plant Based Tzatziki & Air-Fried Falafel
Is anyone as obsessed with Greek food as I am?! It’s always insanely satisfying and flavorful, and just transports me to the Mediterranean (which is probably my favorite place EVER – but I’m biased considering I met Nick there ;), more on that here.) This plant based tzatziki and air-fried falafel is not only packed with delicious, good for you ingredients, but it’s also delicious and insanely simple to make too! Let’s dive into it..
Plant Based Tzatziki & Air-Fried Falafel Deets!
Let’s cover the important ingredients and tools you’ll need to execute this recipe. Here’s the details:
- Sour Cream: I personally prefer to use a dairy or lactose free sour cream, seeing as a majority of us don’t tolerate dairy too well. I love the brand Kite Hill for this, but any will do!
- Fresh Dill: Dill is one of the most important flavors in Greek food, and these recipes are no exception to that rule. Get the fresh dill vs. dried, trust me – you’ll taste the difference. Dill is also amazing for our immunity + digestion too!

- Tapioca Starch/Flour: We use the tapioca starch in the falafel, and it acts like a binding agent in the recipe. Definitely don’t forget this ingredient as it plays a big role in the texture of the falafel! Here is the tapioca starch that I love – it’s gluten free, grain free and paleo friendly.
- Vitamix/Food Processor:You will definitely want to make sure that you have one of these on hand to blend the falafel together. I have this Vitamix and it worked perfect for this recipe.Ā
- Air Fryer: As the recipe notes, the falafel are meant to be cooked in an air fryer! If you haven’t caved and bought one yet, I highly recommend doing so – it’s one of my most used kitchen accessories! This one is similar to the one I use.Ā
